Author : S.S.Kagi
and P.G. Satpute.
a)
Multilocation varietal trial - midlate
This trial was
laidout during December, 1996. In this trial, varieties included for test are Co 740, Co
8014, Co 88028, CoM 88121, Co 87025, Co 87044, Co 88071 and Co 89010. The trial was
laidout in randomised block design with three replications. The results of the experiments
are prese nted in Table - 14.
|
Plant height shown non-significant difference among the varieties. |
|
Significantly highest number of internodes were noticed in Co 89010
compared to other varieties except Co 740, Co 8014 and Co 87025 which were on par with
each other. |
3. Number of millable canes ( lac/ha) |
Co 87025 recorded significantly highest number of millable canes (NMC)
(1.137 lac/ha) compared to other varieties except Co 87044 which was found on par with Co
87025. Lowest number of millable canes of 0.713 lacs/ha was noticed with Co 89010. |
|
Significantly highest cane yield (120.04 MT/ha) was noticed with Co 87025
followed by Co 88071. Significantly lowest cane yield of 80.85 MT/ha was noticed with Co
89010. |
|
Among the quality parameters, Brix(%) and Reducing sugars(%) shown
non-significant difference. However Co 89010 recorded significantly higher pol(%) of 18.74
compared to other varieties except Co 88028 and CoM 88121 which were on par with each
other. |
6. Commerical cane sugar yield (MT/ha) |
Varieties did not differ significantly. However highest CCS yield (13.04
MT/ha) was noticed in Co 87025 followed by Co 88028 and CoM 88121. |
|
Based on the above results it can be concluded that Co 87025 variety
performed better by recording significantly higher number of millable canes and highest
cane yield compared to other varieties. Co 87025 is a errect growing non-lodging variety. |

compared to other varieties except Co 7219, Co91004, Co 89033, Co 91010, Co 91009, which
were on par with each other. |
|
Significantly higher brix percentage (22.81) and pol percentage (22.51)
were recorded by Co 91017 followed by Co 91007. Co 91004 recorded lower brix value of
21.21. |
