Title : Scope of Starting the Crushing Season in October.

Author : T.D. Krishna Murthy and S.I.Harlapur .

Year : 1991-92

This was primarily taken up with a view to start the crushing season in October to exploit the favourable impact on recovery. For this we want to know precisely the maturity of the cane being planted at 3 different months. In this experiment two varieties an early maturing CoC 671 and a mid-late variety Co 8014 have been tried, by planting them at 3 different months August, September and October. The yield and juice quality analysis have been made. Both cane yield and NMC have come down with the advanced planting time from August onwards. However the pol percent in juice has considerably increased with the advanced planting time in both the varieties. The highest pol recorded for variety CoC 671 was when it was planted October and harvested in December for variety Co 8014 was month of September and harvested in December (Table No. 5).
