We have tested 11
varieties with CoC 671 as standard varieties. Variety Co 85012 has recorded highest yield
(115 T/ha) with Co 7201 and CoA 8401 recording 102.6 and 101.4 T/ha respectively. However
the NMC-wise Co 7201 has highest NMC (101000) while CoA 8401 and Co 85012 have recorded
97300 and 92900 respectively. At 12 months of crop age the average highest pol in juice
was recorded by CoC 86062 (21.37%) with varieties Co 85012, CoA 8401 and Co 6907 recording
19.76%, 19.96% and 18.97% respectively (Vide Table No. 1).
Since we have two
years of this varietal trial data we are making a pooled analysis of them and are
eliminating those of the varieties which have performed consistently poor in terms of
their yield and pol percent cane. Varieties Co 6907 was the lowest yielder during 1990-91
(76.6 T/ha) and variety, Co 85009 was a poor yielder during 1991-92 (65.2 T/ha) similarly
lowest Pol % Juice has been recorded by Co 85009 in both the years. (17.92% during 1990-91
and 18.38% during 1991-92).
