Title  : EFFECT OF APPLICATION OF GRADED LEVELS OF ZINC SULPHATE ON JUICE QUALITY AND YIELD OF SUGARCANE VARIETIES.

Author : R.S.Patil,VasudevRao,T.D.Krishnamurthy and S.I. Harlapur.

Year : 1988-89

The experiment was taken with four levels of Zinc Sulphate Viz: 0, 12.5, 25 and 37.5  Kg per hectare. These levels of Zn So4 were tried among the four sugarcane varieties ie. CoC 671, Co 7704, Co 8011 and Co 8014. The first two belonging to early maturity group and the last two to mid season group. Both the juice quality and yield and yield parameters did not show any significant difference. The experiment might have failed due to heavy rainfall and water logged condition that existed during the crop growth period (August-September). The crop growth was verymuch restricted. Thus nothing could be concluded from the experiment.

Title : USE OF BIO-FERTILIZERS TO ECONOMISE NITROGEN USE IN SUGARCANE

4. SSV-4. USE OF BIO-FERTILIZERS TO ECONOMISE NITROGEN USE IN SUGARCANE

This experiment was taken with a view to find out the possibility of using Bio-fertilizers in sugarcane, thus reducing the nitrogen use in cane cultivation. The experiment was located at Sy.No.71 ' F ' Block of our farm. The experimental details are as given below.

Design : Randomised block with three replications

Number of Treatments : 10

Treatment details :

T1 = Neemcake + 20% less than recommanded dose of nitrogen (200 Kg ha-1)

T2 = Neemcake + 40% less than recommanded dose of nitrogen (150 Kg ha-1)

T3 = Neemcake + full dose of recommanded nitrogen (250 Kg ha-1)

T4 = Nitrin + 20% less than recommanded dose of nitrogen (200 Kg ha-1)

T5 = Nitrin + 40% less than recommanded dose of nitrogen (150 Kg ha-1)

T6 = Nitrin + full dose of recommanded nitrogen (250 Kg ha-1)

T7 = Bactin + 20% less than recommanded dose of nitrogen (200 Kg ha-1)

T8 = Bactin + 40% less than recommanded dose of nitrogen (150 Kg ha-1)

T9 = Bactin + full dose of recommanded nitrogen (250 Kg ha-1)

T10 = Only full dose of recommanded nitrogen (250 Kg ha-1).

The data on juice quality and yield and yield parameters were recorded and are given in Table 8 and 9.

The data on juice quality did not show any specific trend. While data on yield and yield parameters were statistically not significant showing absance of any treatment difference. Hence nothing can be concluded from the results obtained from the experiment.
