Title : EFFECT OF DELAYED NITROGEN APPLICATION ON CANE YIELD AND QUALITY PARAMETERS.

Year :1988-89

The experiment was conducted with a view to know the deleterious effects of delayed nitrogen application on quality and yield of sugarcane. Two early sugarcane varieties CoC 671 (V1) and Co 7704 (V2) were tried. With normal agronomic practices except for last dose of nitrogen which was applied as per treatment.

Treatment details.

T1 = last dose of nitrogen given at 30 D.A.P.

T2 = last dose of nitrogen given at 60 D.A.P.

T3 = last dose of nitrogen given at 90 D.A.P.

T4 = last dose of nitrogen given at 120 D.A.P.

The data on quality and yield parameters were recorded and are given in the Table 7.

The data on juice quality did not show any definite trend in Brix, Pol and Purity with delay in application of nitrogen. The data on yield and yield parameter did not show any significant difference among different treatments. Thus delaying nitrogen had no effect on cane yield and yield parameters.
