A trial was conducted to compare efficiency of hand weeding and 2-4D application for the control of Parthenium weed with an objective to determine cost of weeding. The application of 2-3 sprays of 2-4D @ 1 Kg/acre was found to be very effective in controlling weed population. It was also observed that the cost involvement is 1/4th than that of hand weeding. Statistical analysis showed that the hand weeding and 2-4D spraying did not differ significantly, the loss due to no weeding was significantly lower (Table 7).
