Title : Use of Sugarcane Bagasse to Prevent Leaching of Urea.

Author : R.Narasimhan and G.S.C. Rao.

Year : 1981

To check leaching losses of urea, these experiment on use of sugarcane bagasse was initiated in June, 1980 and harvested in November-1981. Table 4:1 gives the number of shoots per hactare at 120 days, height of canes at 8.5 months and juice quality at 9 months and 10 months age. The data on final yield and millable cane number are summarised and appended in Table 4:2, 4:3. Nitrogen which was applied in continuation with bagasse observed to be more effective and at low levels of nitrogen, addition of Bagasse was detrimental to nitrogen uptake.
