In order to find out the quality of June planted-summer harvested cane (Co 740, Co 6415 and Co 419) an extensive survey has been made in May-June 1981. Samples were collected from cultivators fields in the following pattern (30 canes/acres).

Results showed that the plant and ratoon crops of Co 6415 are superior to Co 419 and Co 740 during April-May. It was found that if Co 6415 is planted/ratooned in July and nitrogen application is completed before November the cane would give economically viable recovery during next summer (April/May). The other two late varieties Co 740 and Co 419 were not found to be suitable for June-April cropping pattern.
