Title : Physiological Interpretation of Early Maturity in Sugarcane.

Author : R.Narasimhan,R .S.Sachan,G.S.C.Rao and A.T. Yaragattikar

Year :1980

In the advent of early maturity in sugarcane varieties coming in commercial cultivation, it is essential to know various factors associated with early nature, therefore an experiment has been conducted to identify different yield and quality components occuring in Co 997 an early maturing cane. The trial was initiated in month of Feb. 1980 with four replications in randomised block design. At three harvests (viz. August, September and October) in 6th, 7th and 8th months of age, biological, agricultural, and industrial yield have been determined. For quality components pol % cane, moisture % cane, non-sugar % cane, pol % dry matter and dry matter % cane were deterimined. Results are presented in Tables - 6:1, 6:2, 6:3, and 6:4. Table 6:4 gives the correlation of pol% cane with other quality parameters.
