A trial was laid
out in a view to select most promising varieties specifically suited for June planting and
summer harvesting. For this six promising genotypes of the region i.e. Co 6415, Co 419, Co
997, Co 7704, Co 62175 and Co 740 were planted on 4th July 1979 in latin square design
with six replications. Data on yield and quality parameters were taken at monthly
intervals from April to July which is appended in Table 4. It was found that the early
maturity cane Co 6415, Co 7704, Co 997 appeared to be best suited for Kharif planting. The
quality is in the order of Co 7704, Co 6415 and Co 997.
