Title : All the year round planting

Author : A.L. Sarpotdar,R.S. Sachan,R.G.Menon and H.L.Kulkarni.

Year : 1975

The main object of the experiment is to find out whether cane of acceptable quality can be made available to sugar factory for a longer time than at present by spreading the planting time and if possible to what extent.

A planting plan at fortnightly intervals, commencing form 1st July 1974 was adopted. Each planting was replicated 3 times.

Replications - 3

Size of plot : 34 sq. meters with 4 rows each.

Varieties : Co 740 and Co 6415.

From the 10th month awards, juice analysis were made.
Data are furnished in Table No. 12 and 13.

Results:

Results of all the year round expt. -

1. August planted cane attained peak recovery at 16 to 18 months of age where as March planted cane recorded peak recovery at 11 to 12 months age of the crop in both the varieties viz. Co 740 and Co 6415.

2. As expected peak recovery was recorded between February and March in both the varieties in all the treatments (except April, May and June planted cane) irrespective of the date of planting. Thereafter there was drop in the N.R values. However this drop in N.R. started earlier in Co 740 than Co 6415.

3. In general peak recovery value was higher in Co 6415 than that of Co 740. In Co 6415 peak recovery was recorded little later than Co 740.
