Education related social activities
Education is a fundamental right for every citizen of Indian, but is not available to most of rural Indian mainly due to poverty. There lies vast hidden talent in rural Indians which is so far undiscovered. While the records show 40 per cent of all Indians are illiterate, but in reality it is more than 50 per cent. Due to illiteracy rural Indians are being exploited in many ways. Godavari Biorefineries Ltd. is working for real social change by conducting

Education activities in Madabhavi village: We have adopted a village called Madbhavi in Mudhol taluka for its overall development with most emphasis given to education. Before we took up educational activities, student's attendance in primary school was about 65-70 percent and within a span of 4-5 months there is almost 100 percent attendance.

This was done by re enrollment of school dropouts through home visits and counseling to the parents. Earlier the school was only up to the 7th standard, now it is has been upgraded up to 10th class.

There was a shortage of classrooms as well as teachers within the school and with our continuous efforts with the district government officials the number of classrooms has increased from 6 to 10 and separate toilet facilities for girls and boys and an open-air theater have been provided. The teacher strength has also been raised from 4 to 9.

General knowledge tests, essay competitions and science quizzes are now conducted at least once in two months. Due to these test the students have developed their knowledge and last year 15 students received admission for JSS Maha Vidypeeth's residential School, Mysore for 6th, 8th and I PUC class.
