| A Philanthropist and Visionary : Medical Care
Since the inception of Somaiya
Vidyavihar, it had been a dream of the Trustees to have a Hospital Complex with a Medical
College. Under the guidance of Shri K J Somaiya, the Trust decided to set up a Medical
complex with a 700 bed General Hospital, a Research Centre and a Medical Complex. Thus,
the K. J. Somaiya Hospital was inaugurated on 4th October 1990.
Spread
over 21 acres of land in Sion, North Bombay, the K J Somaiya Hospital is the first private
teaching hospital affiliated to its own medical college in Bombay. Through its staff of
highly trained and qualified personnel, the hospital has been able to offer advanced
diagnostic and curative services to its patients. The Medical College trains the best
young minds in the country in the diagnosis and cure of various ailments. Using the latest
state-of-the-art equipment, the college supplements this with vital qualitative inputs
through proper professional training.
Affiliated to the Bombay University the K
J Somaiya Hospital and Medical College has always lived up to its high reputation and
standards. Catering to the needs of a wide spectrum of people this institution brings to
the needy the benefits of modern medical expertise.
Future plans of the Somaiya Trust's
medical role in society entail concentrating on a range of specialized fields like
dentistry, pharmacy, homeopathy, ayurveda, herbal nursery, a Post Graduate Research Centre
and blood bank services which play a vital role in society at large.
The Nursing School
