Social activities of Somaiya Grameen Vikas Yojana from 1995.
The Somaiya Grameen Vikas Yojana Project was established and inaugurated on 6th
February 1995 with the objective of organizing the Social and Cultural Activities in
the operational area of The GSM Ltd.
The details of important activities organized under SGVY area as under :
Medical Aid
- Free eye camp : free eye camp was organized in Dr. Shetty Hospital at Mudalagi in
June, 1995.
- General Check-up & TB Detection camp : the free general & TB Detention camp with
Bijapur District Health Department was organized at Sameerwadi. 12 TB patients
were identified and arranged for continuous treatment.
- Medical assistance was extended for free eye camp held at Mudbol under Local
Rotary Club in 1996.
- Medical Survey of Cane growers - we have conducted the Medical Survey of Sugarcane
Growers in the limits of Factory Circle. The collected information is
computerized.
- Information Surveyed of Children below 6 years age : we have conducted the
information survey of children below 6 years age in the following villages :
- Saidapur
- Dhavaleshwar
- Hulakund
- Free Medical Camp at Sameerwadi : free general medical camp was held at Sameerwadi
on 14, 15th August 1999. Shri Samirbhai S Somaiya, inaugurated the camp. A Team of
Doctors form K J Somaiya College participated in the Camp. The treatment was
provided to 1250 patients and free medicines were also supplied.
- Pulse Polio Programme : the Somaiya Grameen Vikas Yogana, has extended the help
and associated in the National Pulse Polio programme in 160 villages covering
Mudbol, Jamkhandi, Raibag and Gokak Talukas. As Many as 87,000 children were
provided Polio drop in the area in the 1st phase programme held from 13.10.99 to
15.10.99
Shri V B Bagal, Director (Works), inaugurated the programme at Mudbol and Shri
Samirabhai Somaiya inaugurated Jamkhandi. The Deputy commissioner, Bagalkot Shri
S D Meena presided.
The SGVY will also extended help for remaining 3 Phase Polio Programmes.
