Kutch Salt and Allied Industries

History| Location |Infrastructure | Products | Applications

There's always a Somaiya, in your life. Just as salt is an integral part of your diet, it is the very purpose of existence for Kutch Salt and Allied Industries Ltd.

It was the country's first ever effort to produce salt at two locations, Jakhau and Kandla, both on the Kutch coast. Here, high quality salt is manufactured by solar evaporation of seawater. Besides catering to the Indian salt market, Kutch Salt is a leading exporter of salt to Japan, Korea, Bangladesh and Africa.

Shortly, Kutch Salt, a Somaiya Group company, plans to diversify into marine chemicals and the manufacture of refined salt.

History

In 1950, Kutch Salt was incorporated as a Private Limited Company. It then became a Public Limited Company on 27th May, 1963. Pujya K. J. Somaiya took over its management from 1st April, 1967. Currently, Dr. S. K. Somaiya is the Chairman of the company's Board of Directors.
